What is House on Honey Creek?

If you've followed my social media and website for a while, you know I've been in the antique and vintage business for over 20 years. In that time, I've learned so much about great craftsmanship, quality materials and picking out the perfect pieces for a home. What I've noticed is that buying well in most cases also means only having to buy once. And in today's disposable culture that says a lot, as most home furnishings are now designed to last only a short time before being replaced. And that short lifespan spills over into so many other categories, like clothing, linens, electronics, etc.

One of the aspects I love about the vintage market is the reuse and recycle mindset. Because along with all that beautiful craftsmanship comes a long usable life. The pieces I have sold over the years were made to last, and made to find function in a variety of applications. Chests can be entry tables. Dressing tables can be converted into bathroom vanities. Farm tables can be reimagined into desks.
So, with all that said, I'm excited to expand on that recycle and reuse mindset into a broader focus to include not only vintage home furnishings but so many of the other items that are needed within a household. Our homes are our sanctuaries, and they should be filled with the things we love and that make us comfortable. But that doesn't mean having to have the latest and the newest. To me its more about having things that are functional and suit my needs.
House on Honey Creek was inspired by my newest adventure, moving out to six beautiful Texas acres and focusing on some new endeavors. Its a place with creeks, a pond, pastures and (!!) my resident honey bees! We haven't build our home here yet, but we have already done so much work in preparation for those next steps.

I'm very excited to start sharing my plans for this property, my projects (Barn! Greenhouse! Foster Dogs! Kids Playhouse! and more!), and my research on everything from health and beauty to sustainable home decor. I want to connect with others who share my love of living simply in materials but rich in intention. And most of all I want to make House on Honey Creek a place where you can be inspired to make the changes that are meaningful in your own life.
I plan to share each post on social media so please follow along on Facebook or Instagram for updates, information, and a dose of positive inspiration.
Hope to see you around!
